Periods Deserve a Better Story
In many parts of our country, periods are still shrouded in silence. They're treated like a secret, a burden, or worse—something to be ashamed of. But periods aren’t dirty. They’re natural, powerful, and deserve open conversations.
At Snehdhara, we’re rewriting that story.
Beyond Distribution: Creating Safe Spaces

In April, we distributed sanitary pads across local communities. But we didn’t just drop off supplies and leave. Our volunteers took the time to talk to women and girls about menstrual health and hygiene—what it really means to care for your body during your period.
We started with simple questions: “Do you feel safe changing pads?” “Have you ever talked about this before?” What followed was honest, eye-opening dialogue—some of it hesitant, some emotional, and all of it deeply human.
A Pad, A Talk, A Turning Point

We spoke about the basics—changing pads regularly, staying clean, managing pain—and gently challenged harmful myths passed down over generations. Women shared their experiences. Girls asked questions they’d never dared to before.
And just like that, the conversation shifted. A simple sanitary pad became a symbol of dignity and knowledge. Something as small as a pad now carried the weight of awareness, of change.
Because real change doesn’t just come from distribution—it comes from listening, understanding, and empowering. And in these small circles of conversation, we saw what empowered women look like: strong, curious, and ready to break the silence.
